Welcome to TImminsGetClean.comAbout UsTogether We Can Keep Timmins Litter FreeTimminsGetClean founded by Rick and Debbie Cecconi June 2007After numerous walks on the Terry Fox Pathway in Timmins we were shocked and disgusted with the amount of litter found on that trail. Rather than complaining about it we took action by creating then launching this website. We then notified The Daily Press of its presence on the Internet and what our campaign was about.Through The Daily Press we were able to reach out to the public asking residents to volunteer a couple hours of their time at organized TimminsGetClean litter cleanups. After a successful first cleanup in June 2007, 92 volunteers cleaned up 2,727 lbs of litter. Regrettably volunteers had only scratched the surface, much more litter was found throughout the city after the snow had disappeared.Once again TimminsGetClean with support of local media, asked residents to volunteer and join a second cleanup July 2007. 157 residents volunteered for the event and cleaned up another 3,993 lbs of litter. To date 16 cleanups have been organized. Volunteer have cleaned up 49,537 lbs (22,470 metric tons) of litter Those numbers are staggering. Imagine how filthy our city would look today if that amount of litter was still on our streets, roads, walkways, trails and in our city parks. With the help of volunteers Timmins is a much cleaner city today. We are sincerely thankful for TimminsGetClean volunteers, media and sponsors that support our litter campaign.Winter is near and we’ve hung up the rakes until next year..TimminsGetClean.com
